Jr. High and Sr. High
VISION
Ministries of excellence to equip and inspire youth to live a life led by Jesus Christ.
Youth includes junior high and high school students (7th – 12th). This is a formative time in a young person’s life and we are constantly on the lookout for new and effective ways to connect with and provide meaningful faith formation ministries and activities.
We have a strong emphasis on service including regular mission trips. Additionally, all our class offerings keep an open eye for discussions, topics and even world events that can tie in to equipping our youth to live a life lead by Jesus Christ.
Monthly Activities
We offer activities every month broken out by junior high and senior high students to give them the opportunity to have fun and connect with one another outside of church.
Typical activities include haunted hayrack ride, a bonfire, ice skating, and a movie night. We also have 7+ months a year a Sunday Fun night from 5 – 7pm where junior high youth gets together for games, food and faith discussion. It is a way to go deep in a theme and for the youth to get to know one another better through fun experiences.
Mission Trip
A group of youth from Redeemer volunteers most years goes on a mission trip where we do home repairs. In 2013 we stayed on an Apache Indian Reservation in Mescalero, NM. In 2014 we painted the inside of neglected and nearly forgotten homes in Buffalo, NY. In 2016 we went north to Red Lake, MN on the Chippewa Indian Reservation to repair many resident porches that were falling apart. In 2017 seven youth went to Valdosta, GA where they worked on homes: painting inside and outside, repairing porches, rebuilding sheds and more. They gained insight from a large poverished population in this part of the country.
In 2018, 12 youth and 3 adults went to the ELCA Youth Gathering in Houston which is held once every three years where they gathered for mass gatherings in the evening with 36,000 other youth in the NRG Stadium for live music and inspiring speakers that went deep into topics youth today are faced with. They also spent a day of service beautifying a local park that now the residents in the community can come together and admire God’s creation thus building a stronger community. They also enjoyed the interactive workshop day where they got to go through an experience meant to get a feel for what it is like to be a refugee. Many youth eyes were opened to the many struggles this underserved population faces.
Students help with planning and carry out fundraising to be able to travel for the mission trips. The members of Redeemer Lutheran Church have a long history of being very supportive and helpful in making this key faith experience happen for our youth.
Confirmation Classes
Wednesday nights during the school year 7th and 8th graders get together for confirmation classes from 6:30 – 8pm. These classes take a deep dive into Lutheran faith practices and its history.

High School Coffee
High school students get together at different local coffee shops Sunday morning to discuss from a faith perspective relevant topics and events happening around them both locally and globally. It is a great way to take the teachings of the Bible into the real world for curious teenagers.
Junior High Sunday School
Sunday mornings between services 7th and 8th graders meet to study and learn about their gifts and serving. This is an interactive class that includes talent and gift assessments and complex discussions around leadership.
