How I came to work at Redeemer
I started in August, 1985. We had joined the church earlier that year in March, 1985, and I became the Treasurer in August! It all happened so quick. The job started out as a volunteer position and was divided between two people. I did accounts payable and the other person (Nick Nauman) did the receivables. I handled payroll, too. I cannot remember what year the Council decided to merge the two positions and pay someone to do the job. Maybe around 1991? The person I replaced had quit suddenly and they needed someone right away. It just so happened my next door neighbor was a Redeemer member and suggested me for the job. I knew I could handle the responsibilities at Redeemer and run my business and take care of Katie. I had for years been a stay at home mom with my own small accounting business
after Katie was born. I have loved working this position over the years. It is an outlet for me and a chance for meeting people. Also, I still to this day with Nick Nauman and he is and always has been a volunteer giving his talents to the church. I have two grown children Katie and Alex.
Favorite Bible Verse
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 "There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace."

I doubt many people knew I was on the tennis and badminton teams at DeKalb High School. This was back in the early 70's when girls sports in Illinois was not prominent. No basketball, gymnastics, track, swimming, etc. Only tennis and badminton were sports offered for girls and played against other schools. There were not many girl's who went out for these! Things have changed for the better! We had fun!
