Sunday School
Online 2018 – 19 Sunday School Registration
During Sunday School kids will experience God’s love and grow deeper in faith all while growing their relationship in Jesus Christ. Be part of this exciting journey for our youth.
Sunday School classes are available for ages preschool (three by September 15th) through high school. Additionally, there is an adult Sunday School class.
There are no yawns or boredom looks during Redeemer’s Sunday School classes. We do fun, hands on activities to really experience and bring to life the messages in the Bible. We have during Sunday School walked on egg shells, polished pennies, played games, acted out skits and lots more.
We begin each Sunday School with music, often songs that relate to that day’s main message. Then there is a short interactive intro of the day’s main message often with help from Faith Ambassador’s (4th – 6th graders that are actively growing their leadership skills in the church). Then we break into classrooms by age.
High school youth meet at 9:30am at the church office and travel to a local coffee shop to discuss faith topics that are on their hearts. Senior youth staff and an adult volunteer lead and facilitate the discussions.
Junior high youth (7th and 8th grade) meet downstairs tying key topics like leadership, character development and our own daily habits to growing our faith and sharing with others.
Online registration for 2018 – 19 year opening up August 12th. Walk-ins always welcome at Sunday School too.
Meeting Date and Time is Sundays at 9:30am – 10:30am from September 9th through the Sunday before Memorial Day.
Marty’s Kids
Marty’s Kids is for 3rd – 6th graders and its purpose is for kids to experience first-hand what it is to lead a life led by Jesus Christ. We do service activities, games, fun events with friends that we understand how to be a Christian amongst our friends and make them feel welcome. We discuss and refer to the Bible for real life situations these kids are faced with and much more. We meet during the school year every Wednesday. Our aim is for kids to have positive experiences so they understand what leading a life by Christ can look and feel like.
Last year our theme was the Holy Spirit. We did a lot of discussion and real life talking and experiencing around calling the Holy Spirit into our daily lives. This year the theme is the heart of Jesus. The intent is to go deeper than thinking of the word ‘nice’ for Jesus and go into into who Jesus was and fall in love with who Jesus was as part of understanding the life he meant for each of us. Jesus was so much more than just a nice guy. We will dig into what it means be a Christian following the heart of Jesus. We will do real life activities and experiences.
Meeting Date and Time: Wednesdays starting September 12th from 7 -8pm. We know many children have sports and other activities throughout the year. Whenever your schedule permits, join us on Wednesday evenings. Kids tell us they look forward to it and have a hard time leaving.
Family Events
Throughout the year we organize family events to get entire families, kids, parents, adults, and grandparents all together doing a hands-on experience related to the season.
Sunday School Kickoff – Sunday School will kickoff on Labor Day. We will have an outdoor worship at 9:45 (one service) and immediately after have a picnic and games and entertainment. Bring a dish to share. We have a group of guys that will be taking care of grilling some burgers, brats and hotdogs. Beverage provided by the church. Join us starting at 9:45am on September 2nd.
Advent – the first Sunday after Thanksgiving we kick-off Advent with a meaningful family activity and craft to get everyone focused on the coming birth of Jesus. This year (2018) we will make advent wreaths.
Lent – this occurs during Lent and is a way to enrich the journey following Jesus to the cross.
Summer Fun – a couple times through the summer we take advantage of the hot summer sun and have a picnic and water fun for the entire congregation. Games, food and fun – a great way to celebrate the beautiful outdoors.
Children’s Faith Milestones
3rd Grade Bibles – this is a special day when we remember our baptismal promises to faithfully bring children to worship in God’s house, place the Holy Scripture in their hands, and provide for their instruction in the Christian Faith. Each 3rd grader is presented with a Bible during worship. These Bibles are easy to read and are a great resource for kids and parents! Children are encouraged to read and use their Bible throughout their faith journey.
First Communion – we offer First Communion instruction for 5th graders. First Communion is an important step in faith development. There is no prerequisite for the First Communion classes. Our First Communion class is a means of helping those receiving to better understand and appreciate Holy Communion and this awesome gift of grace before they start receiving it. They learn more about God’s love for them through Jesus, have the opportunity to break bread for their celebration. The Sunday then following the instruction they typically will receive their first communion and are recognized during worship.
